Wedding in Cortal Gran, a castle in Costa Brava.

Todays wedding is a wedding that took place in beautiful Costa Brava in Catalonia: Cortal Gran and Sant Miquel de Fluvià, two of the most amazing places in the Catalan Empordà in Girona.

This couple hired me for my documentary wedding photography style in which the photos I take tell the story of what was happening on their wedding day. In fact, this couple really liked the black and white photographs and the analog photographs in 35mm film format. So during the day I enjoyed telling their story from a documentary perspective.

Cortal Gran, the place where they spent much of their wedding day is a castle located on the road to Sant Martí d’Empúries, in the Catalan Alt Empordà, more specifically in Sant Pere Pescador, a small town very close to the beach. This incredible castle is a construction of the XIV century where the gardens allow weddings to be held outdoors during most of the summer and enjoying the Mediterranean climate of the area.

For the ceremony they chose the Monastery of Sant Miquel de Fluvià. This monastery is known for its beautiful 16th century Romanesque church surrounded by cobblestone streets and the silence of the small town.

After the ceremony we decided to go to some fields of olive trees and flowers that were located right next to Cortal Gran, so we did not have to move very far to make a small photo shoot of the two of them alone as newlyweds. To move around we used an old Suzuki convertible SUV that you can see in the wedding photos below.

The bride and groom enjoyed the company of their friends throughout the day. Both the bride and groom were always accompanied by their bridesmaids and groomsmen and they never stopped celebrating and toasting. The day was a real party and they told me that this was the most important part for them and that was what they wanted to be reflected in the photographs of their wedding day.

For the dress, the bride chose a brand from a French designer: Tara Deva. The catering was provided by Molí de l’Escala.
