Mallorca Film Wedding Photographer

mallorca wedding photographer

I’m Sara Lázaro, a Mallorca film wedding photographer working in a documentary and analog style.
I’ve worked on several weddings on the island over the years, always focusing on real moments, emotions and everything that happens naturally during the day. My approach is calm and unobtrusive. I don’t direct or stage, I observe and anticipate.
I work primarily with film and a documentary mindset, which means giving space to people and letting the day unfold without interruptions. This way of working fits very well with weddings in Mallorca, especially for couples coming from abroad who want something relaxed, honest and unforced.

Photographing weddings in Mallorca on film

I work primarily with analog (film) photography, focusing on documenting weddings as they unfold naturally.
Rather than directing or staging moments, I pay attention to atmosphere, relationships and the small details that make each wedding unique. Film allows me to work with intention and sensitivity, creating images that feel timeless and honest. Especially in a place like Mallorca, where light and environment play such an important role.

Experience on the island

Over the years, I’ve photographed several weddings in Mallorca. One of the most meaningful projects I’ve worked on there was a wedding at Son Marroig, a location that captures the island’s dramatic connection to the Mediterranean landscape.
That wedding was the celebration of Nicole & Rels B, a well-known Spanish artist and documenting it in an analog, documentary way was especially important to preserve the intimacy and atmosphere of the day.
Working on the island repeatedly has given me a deep understanding of how weddings flow in Mallorca, from light conditions to timing, and from logistics to the emotional pace of the day.

A documentary approach shaped by experience

I’ve been photographing weddings for 18 years and that experience allows me to work with anticipation rather than reaction.
Knowing when something is about to happen means I can document the day without interrupting it. Most of the time, couples tell me they barely notice the camera, which allows them to stay present and enjoy their wedding fully.
This way of working is especially valuable in destination weddings, where the experience matters as much as the images.

Mallorca, the Balearic Islands and destination weddings in Spain

Many couples choose Mallorca as their wedding destination because it’s an easy place to travel to, with great weather, beautiful locations and a relaxed atmosphere.I work across Spain, the Balearic Islands and and throughout Europe for destination weddings.
I often work with international couples travelling to Mallorca to get married, and I’m very used to destination weddings. I keep things simple and flexible, so photography feels like a natural part of the day and not something you have to worry about.

Mallorca offers a wide variety of settings for weddings, each with its own character and energy. Some of the areas where couples often choose to celebrate include:

* Tramuntana Mountains, with dramatic landscapes and historic estates
* Deià and Valldemossa, known for their quiet beauty and connection to nature
* The Mallorca coast, coves and beaches with views over the Mediterranean Sea
* Rural fincas and venues in the centre of the island, offering privacy and a slower pace

Each region brings a different atmosphere, and my role is always to adapt my way of working to the place and to the people getting married there.

Got some questions?

Do you work exclusively in Mallorca?

No. I work across Europe, but Mallorca is one of the places I regularly photograph weddings in. I’m comfortable working both locally and with couples travelling from abroad.

We don’t like posing. Is that an issue?

Not at all. My approach is documentary, so I won’t ask you to pose or perform. I focus on what naturally happens throughout the day.

We’re planning a destination wedding. Are you used to that?

Yes. Many of the weddings I photograph involve travel and international couples. I’m used to adapting quickly and keeping the process simple and calm.

Why is film photography a good fit for weddings in Mallorca?

Mallorca offers beautiful natural light and a relaxed pace, which works perfectly with analogue photography. Film allows me to focus on moments and atmosphere rather than volume.

Do you combine film and digital photography?

Depending on the wedding, I often combine both. The priority is always to document the day honestly — the tools adapt to the situation, not the other way around.

How do you deal with strong sunlight or outdoor ceremonies?

Experience plays a big role here. After many years photographing weddings, I know how to work with changing light conditions and outdoor settings without interrupting what’s happening.
